We all want to be somewhat successful in life, whether in our careers, our personal life, our personal journey with love and so on.
Success looks and feels different to everyone and it is vital that you spend time figuring out what it means to you.I spend a lot of time with my clients on this. Getting them to ask themselves what it means to them. Yet in order to be successful, you need to develop a high level of self-awareness. It is impossible to change something you don’t know. Yet, one thing we all have in common are the roadblocks we put in the way to stop us from becoming successful. Unfortunately, we tend to be our own worst enemy and not even realise that we are to blame for sabotaging our own success. We actively or passively take steps to prevent ourselves from reaching our goals. This behaviour can affect nearly every aspect of life be it in a relationship, a career goal or a personal goal such as weight loss. However, you can consciously change that direction by considering these seven common behaviours that block success and learn how you can avoid or alter them. 1. You’re Not Taking Enough Risks. I used to think that I was taking enough risks until I realized — I was just in survival mode. While it may be prudent to avoid extreme risk, there is a time and place for stepping outside your comfort zone in order to generate the change that is necessary to achieve your goals. If you’re typically a risk-averse person like me and haven’t been achieving much success, now may be the time to put yourself out there. You don’t necessarily need to take huge risks; if you’ve been taking the safe route for a while, even small risks can be enough to help propel you in the right direction. Consider volunteering to take on the lead role on a project at work or step outside your role and do something different. 2. You’re Not Tracking Your Progress It’s one thing to set goals, yet if you are not consistently tracking your progress toward those goals, you may find it easier to just give up — even when you’re on the cusp of success. I used to never track what I was doing with writing, creating content or any of my other work. I now understand the power of tracking your progress. There are many different ways to track your progress. Whether it’s journaling or tracking it against tasks for gauging progress or maintaining a spreadsheet of monthly goals and updates, you need to hold yourself accountable. As you see progress, remind yourself how far you’ve come. Make adjustments as necessary if you feel as though more needs to be done, but never stray too far from the original goal. 3. You Don't Believe In Yourself Many of my clients struggle with believing in themselves. It is time to let the ego and negativity consume go.. I learned over the years that I needed to work on my self-confidence and beliefs and this is what I have taught for the last 14 years.. When you stop believing that little voice inside your head telling you that “you’re not good enough” and start standing up for yourself, you begin to earn self-belief with yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself, how can you expect anyone else to? This holds true in business and your personal life. To believe in yourself, you must first trust yourself. When making decisions, stop relying on everyone around you to tell you what to do or waiting for them to reassure you that you’ve made the best choice. Instead, try listening to your intuition (going with your gut). You may be surprised to discover you’re actually more insightful than you though. Remember how many times you may have already said to yourself that you should have listened to that little voice? That’s your intuition and it already believes in you. 4. You’re Too Afraid of Failure The prospect of failure can turn you into a deer in the headlights. However, in your attempt to avoid the possibility of failing, you may be missing out on opportunities that will actually allow you to be successful. The fact is that failure is inevitable. I am still learning to not make decisions based on fear, it’s okay to be scared but don’t be afraid. Everything you attempt in life you either win or learn, there’s no losing. Sometimes your biggest enemy is yourself — self-awareness is the first agent for change. The better you understand yourself, the more likely you can become the person you were meant to be. It took me a while to realize you are the only person holding you back — when you know better, it’s easier to be better. You got this! Here are some other factors you may consider that are holding you back from your success! Take some time to reflect on some of these possibilities and what may resonate with you. Remember awareness is the first step! Some habits that can block you from progress can be: *Procrastinating *Not taking advantage of opportunities *Being consumed by negativity *Not letting yourself fail *Not investing in yourself *Perfectionism *Waiting for opportunities *Being distracted *Letting others set the agenda *Resisting change To remove blockers, you can try: *Assigning a percentage to the blocker to reduce its power *Creating affirmations and visualization exercises *Transforming the blocker into a positive habit *Finding the source of your behavior If you are interested in learning more, consider having a look at my channel. https://www.youtube.com/@LeonaWallace Much love and joy, Leona Creator and Founder of Awaken The Beauty Coaching and Wellness here to edit.

I am blessed to work with people around the world and I always share with them that 'Connecting with their heart is their super power'. It really is for so many reasons. We have been diverted from our super power for centuries yet now the science is in, our hearts are our super power being 5000 times more magnetic than our brains, holding the key to unlocking our deepest desires, our unresolved emotions, our connection to God, the Universe, Source and being our best guidance system ever.
Yet most people are scared to really truly connect with their heart. Why? Well emotions can seem intimidating and overwhelming. Most of us have never been taught how to deal with them and process them. They feel out of control. Most have been taught to stay disconnected and to be more brain focused so we can remain in control. Well I disagree. I believe and I know from personal experience and the 14 years of coaching and teaching, that this is not the case. Within the heart lies your super powers to become truly powerful. I guess that is why we are taught in most cultures to stay away. My last decade of travel through Europe has gifted me the ancient teachings that have shown me the way. The ancient prophets referring to their hearts. Centuries of teachings hidden away in plain sight, always ‘pointing’ to the heart. So within my teachings it has become integral to ‘connect with the heart’ each day with certain daily routines and magical ways to listen and learn what I require to grow into my super powers of my ‘heart. Allow me to show you the way. A simple way to begin is with placing your hand on your heart. Take a few moments to find and feel the rhythm of your heart. Can you feel her? She has much to say. Now keep your hand there and really connect.Take a deep breath in through your nose. Hold it. Release through pursed lips. Allowing yourself to fully exhale. Now repeat two more times, while keeping your hand in place. I want you to really connect. As you stay connected you are going to ask yourself three questions. One. What type of person do I desire to BE today? Allow your heart to gift you an answer. Breathing. Two. What do I desire to ENJOY today? Stay here for a moment and receive the answer. Three. What is the one thing I will DO today to bring me closer to PROSPERITY? Don’t move your hand. Stay connected. Breathing. Allow your answers to arrive. Now, I would love for you to write your answers in your journal. From these answers you will create your intention for the day. This is a powerful daily ritual to begin your day and to get connected with your heart. As you continue to practice this ritual, you will begin to build trust with your heart. She will reveal gifts to you is you listen. Allowing you to release your super power, your truth. Your authentic truth. There are multiple ways to connect with your heart, including meditation, mindfulness, and being open to your feelings: Meditation: Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and focus on your heart. Breathe in and out from your heart, and let your thoughts and feelings come and go. Notice what your heart is telling you. I allow myself a break throughout the day to meditate. I feel more connected and empowered when I gift this practice to myself. Mindfulness: Practice being aware of your thoughts without becoming attached to them. Living from your heart: Accept and expand to the energy of your heart. Remember, it is 5000 times more magnetic than your brain. Which will supercharge your manifestations that you are co-creating with the Universe. Relate and connect with your heart, and feel your way through experiences. You can also connect with your heart through a heart-to-heart talk, which is a serious and honest discussion about feelings. The connection between the heart and the mind is two-way. Stress and anxiety can affect your heart, increasing the risk of heart disease. On the other hand, a healthy heart can contribute to a healthy brain and emotional well-being. Try movement combined with breath work. I teach a practice called ‘Nirvana’. Have a look. Another modality I teach is called “FlowCode”. The benefits are many. I invite you to check it out. Start the conversation edit. You have the power to harness your inner power, raise your own energy and to be of service to the world. And it’s easier than you might think. Your energy has far more power than you can ever even imagine. There is energy in the words you speak, in the words you write and in your physical presence. When we function from a fearful, low energetic state, our thoughts and energy can literally put the world in a toxic state. Yet, when we function from a place of positive energy, the world around us becomes more positive. Your real inner power stems from your authentic truth. This practice heightens your awareness of what it feels like to be in your truth versus what it feels like to be out of alignment. Let’s take out your pen and journal and describe the differences between what it feels like to be in your truth versus what it feels like to be out of alignment with it. How do you act differently, talk differently, think and even breathe differently? Pay close attention to the differences in how you FEEL. Then, whenever you notice yourself out of alignment with your truth, use this affirmation: ‘there is nothing more powerful than my authentic truth’ The second step in harnessing and awakening your inner power is to heal the habit of judgment. Judgment weakens your own power. For example, take a moment to recall how you noticed yourself after you were gossiping. I know for myself, that afterward I felt awful. My energy was low and I was weak. After witnessing how my words had weakened my power, I decided to change my ways. That moment I started counting how many days I’ve gone without judging. Now it’s been more days than I can count and I feel more energized, more connected to others and more powerful! There’s no greater way to awaken your inner power than to be in the service of someone who has none. If you’re feeling disempowered, immediately find a way to serve. Go volunteer in places with people who are less fortunate, mentor a child — do anything that helps you discover your power and harness it to use in service of someone else. This radical action will instantly remind you of how powerful you really are and reinforce the essential idea that your power is best used to lift up others and serve the world. Most of us have been taught to turn down the light on our power. Playing small won’t work anymore. The world is in desperate need of more miracle-minded people waking up to their true power and purpose. It is your responsibility to shine bright. When you shine, you light up the world. Add to your daily practice of turning on your inner light. Use these tools throughout the day to be more real, stop judgment, meditate, and serve others. As you live in your power on a moment-to-moment basis you will notice your life begin to flow. You will feel more connected to your purpose. You will live in the light. Here are a few more ways to harness your inner power to manifest: 1. Visualization: Create a mental image of your desired outcome to send a clear message to your subconscious mind. 2. Affirmations: Repeat positive statements to reinforce your beliefs and intentions. 3. Meditation: Sit in meditation to help solidify your beliefs and intentions in your subconscious mind. 4. Journaling: Start journaling to help manifest your dreams. 5. Surround yourself with positivity: Surround yourself with positivity and consider your dreams before bed. 6. Believe in your deservingness: Remove fear and believe in your deservingness to manifest what you want. 7. Raise your energetic vibration: Your energy creates your reality, so raise your energetic vibration to become your manifestation. 8. Explore new activities: Try new activities like painting or writing to tap into your creativity and unlock fresh ideas. NOW enjoy this process! Enjoy your life as you power up to become the BEST version of you! Much love and light always, Leona Founder and Creator of ‘Awaken The Beauty Coaching and Events’ Insta: @LoveGoddessLeona Our emotions are literally energy in motion. When we find ways to block the energy from moving through our body, we end up storing emotions in our cells. Some ways that we learn to bypass our emotions include dissociating, addiction, perfectionism, judging ourselves and being critical of others.
When we experience something that evokes negative emotions and we don’t allow that emotional energy to come out of our body, it doesn’t just go away; it remains inside of us and much like my son’s physical energy, emotional energy will try anything it can in order to be released from our bodies. For instance, one might start to cry for seemingly no reason, and based on what we know about energy, it is very likely that the body is attempting to release some emotional energy that we haven’t given it the opportunity to release. When we don’t give ourselves the opportunity to release emotional energy and because this energy doesn’t go away, it often manifests itself in other ways i.e. anxiety, depression, anger outbursts, ADHD, etc. It can also manifest itself in physical symptoms such as autoimmune disorders, headaches, chronic pain disorders, difficulty sleeping, obesity, and COPD. We have to “feel to heal” When we allow ourselves to feel our feelings, we give our bodies the chance to let go of stored emotional energy and we free ourselves from the stress of holding onto all of that energy. With less physical and emotional stress in the body, the less chance there is of developing emotional or physical symptoms. How can we release the energy tied to our emotions? There are many ways to release our emotions from the body including talking to a safe and trusted support person, going to therapy, drawing, journaling, dancing, playing/listening to music, exercising, meditation, connecting with one’s higher power, and attending support groups to name a few. Here are a few things to keep in mind when processing your feelings during these activities: Honour them. Validate them. Accept them. Please feel free to reach out to me or someone on my team to assist you and to give you support during this time. Click The 369 manifestation method was one of the first exercises I discovered when I initially came across the law of attraction back in 2011. Before we move into how to use this technique to manifest, can I interest you in a little history lesson to begin?
Let me introduce Serbian-American inventor, Nikola Tesla. Tesla, famed for not only his inventions such as the remote control and the Tesla coil but also his spiritual enlightenment, noted the numbers 3, 6 and 9 as being ‘Divine numbers’ and was quoted saying; “If you knew the magnificent of the numbers 3, 6 and 9, you have the Key to the Universe”. Without moving too far into vortex mathematics, which is where the inventor excelled, Tesla had a theory which linked the power of 3, 6 and 9. When studying circles (360 degrees, which is 3 + 6 = 9), for example, he discovered that no matter how many times you divided one, the outcome would always be a 3, 6 or 9. He felt these three numbers held great significance in the Universe, nature and the human blueprint. It is said that the number 3 is a direct link to the Universe, while the number 6 represents the strength we have in ourselves and the number 9 helps to release feelings of negativity. Tesla was also quoted as saying; “If you want to find the secrets of the Universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration” – which are the three exact ingredients we use when manifesting. So, how exactly does the 369 manifestation method work? This method I am introducing you to below was actually created by light worker, Karin Yee, who combined Tesla’s methodology with the workings of Abraham Hicks to maximize your manifesting potential. Step 1. Decide Your Manifestation First of all, grab your journal and pen. You’ll need these for the next 33 days. There is real power in taking pen to paper so even though it might feel archaic in a digital age, I’d suggest writing rather than typing away on a laptop or phone. Plus who doesn’t enjoy a little ‘spelling’. ;) We are going to begin the process by thinking of one manifestation that lasts for 17 seconds (usually around 2 sentences long). But why 17 seconds? That feels like a number I’ve picked out of thin air, right? The readings of Abraham Hicks reveal time and time again the power of holding an affirmation for this length of time, with the brain taking 17 seconds to create the energy of the thought we focus on. For example, if we focus on the thought of love for 17 seconds, our brain then starts to create more and more of that energy, in turn, aligning you to that which you are claiming. Side note: Has anyone noticed that 7-1 equals 6? Just call me Leona Tesla. What could your manifestation be? This all depends on what you’d like to attract into your life. This technique has helped people welcome money, love, house moves, new jobs – the Universe doesn’t put a limitation on what you’d like to manifest, as long as it is safe for you, for others and the planet. Start the manifestation with gratitude, add in emotion and finish with the words “into my life”. For example: “I am so thankful for the universe aligning with me to attract $10,000 into my bank account, bringing with it financial freedom, joy and excitement into my life.” The key is to use words that amplify the emotion and energy you want to attract. As you can see here, I have used kinaesthetic words such as freedom, joy and excitement which are words you can really feel inside of your body. Another example could be: “I am so thankful for the Universe aligning with me to attract my soulmate, bringing with it a deep sense of love, happiness, contentment and an inner peace in my heart into my life.” Once you have perfected your manifestation – remember, 17 seconds is around the time it takes to write two sentences – and aligned your words to the energy you want to attract and amplify, it is time to start the first of 33 days of the 369 manifestation method. Step 2. Journal 3 times in the morning Take your journal every morning as soon as you wake up. Write your 17 second long manifestation that you have crafted out above, 3 times. The key to success when manifesting anything is to focus on the feeling. Focus on the energy of what it is you want to attract and how it will feel when (not if) it enters your life. As your pen starts to script your desire onto the paper, imagine the feeling of money arriving into your life and how you will feel seeing it in your savings account. Or imagine the love you will feel when your soulmate arrives, and you know with all of your heart they were meant for you. Now release your desire and trust that the Universe will work her magic. Start your day and do not hold on to your manifestation. We know at this point that as soon as you hold on too tight, your manifestation doesn’t appear because the Universe senses lack and desperation. Perhaps the key if you struggle with relinquishing control, is to use this method on something you would like to attract into your life, but not something that means so much you need it to appear right away. Step 3. Journal 6 times at midday The next step is midway through the day, perhaps on your lunch. Take out your journal again and write the same manifestation above, 6 times. Again, follow the same process as before, immersing yourself in the energy of how it will feel, visualising yourself being with your desire. I love to place my hand on my heart and connect with her heartbeat. Then take three deep breaths, exhaling through pursed lips. Sometimes,I will force myself to smile initially when I am manifesting as this can trick the brain into lifting your mood and lowering stress almost instantly. A forced smile will soon become a natural one, especially as you write down your desire. Again, release and move on with your day. Step 4. Write your desire 9 times before bed Finally, before bed, take your journal, connect with your heart and breath and write out your high-vibe manifestation, yet this time you’ll do so 9 times, following the same method used throughout the day. The initial 3 scripts were to set the intention to the universe, the following 6 times were to amplify them and the final 9 are to set this manifestation in stone. By utilising the power of the 369 manifestation method, alongside Abraham Hicks’ readings on the power of 17 seconds and energy alignment, it is no wonder this technique has proved so incredibly powerful for so many people. Follow the 369 manifestation method for 33 days (3 x 3 = 9 or 3+3 = 6) and see what magic occurs. TIPS FOR THIS MANIFESTATION TECHNIQUE Be sure to speak in the present as if your manifestation is already yours. By using words such as “I will” or “I want” you are speaking to the Universe as if you do not have your desire, which leads her to deliver more of what you don’t have. Speak in the present tense and know that your manifestation is yours, it just hasn’t arrived yet. As mentioned above, do not obsess over your manifestation. The how and when are not yours to consider; this is where Divine timing comes into play and trusting in the Universe to know that when your energy is ready to receive your desire, it will be yours. Trust that your manifestation could appear way before the 33 days are over! Again, Divine timing will make sure your desires appear when you are ready to accept them. If you reach the end of the 33 days and you are still awaiting magic to appear, do not give up hope. Release this into the Universe and sit in the faith that it will soon be yours because you have claimed it! Be consistent. For this to truly work, you must set the time aside each day to write 3 times in the morning, 6 times throughout the day and 9 times before you go to sleep. Set an alarm so you don’t forget and make the time in your schedule to make this a priority. I promise you, you won’t regret it. If you feel negativity or self-doubt creeping in when going through the 369 manifestation method, you will struggle to match your energy to that of what you desire. Take some time when doubts arise to step away from the method and write down what these are. Are they truth or a belief? Can you control the doubt and change something, or do you need to release something you have no control over? Can you reframe it somehow? Manifesting money can bring blocks to the surface for people, so the key is to feel aligned to the total you would like to attract. If you struggle to sit in the energy of $10,000, can you sit in the energy of what it feels like to manifest $1000? And do this technique over and over again until you reach your total needed? Take time to heal yourself. Side note: If you really desire to move past the limiting beliefs, fears and self-doubt, perhaps it is time to invest more into your Inner Journey. You can learn more about this here https://www.awakenthebeauty.com/inner-awakening-program-one-on-one.html www.awakenthebeauty.com/inner-awakening-program-one-on-one.html Much love and light always, Leona Founder and Creator of Awaken The Beauty Wellness and Events https://www.awakenthebeauty.com/ 1. Get clear on what you want The Universe is always listening, and it wants to support you in achieving your dreams. Get really clear on what it is you are asking for, down to the smallest details. The Universe responds to clarity and will deliver the things that you want with greater ease when you have a crystal-clear vision of what you’re calling in. In my coaching practice, I guide women to clear their heart space of external influences and energetic ties that might be clouding their vision to what they truly desire, as this is the root center for women to connect to their deepest truth. 2. Get clear on WHY you want it What is the real motivation behind your intention? Setting intentions based on feelings of fear or necessity will only perpetuate more fear and feeling like you never have enough. Be sure to set your intentions from a place of honouring your self-worth, love, and the desire to create true happiness. As mentioned above, you will want to work with clearing the heart and/or the chakras in order to set your intentions from a place of authenticity, not from fear and blocked or manipulated energy. This work can be challenging to navigate on your own, so seek support from a coach, mentor, or teacher with whom you really connect with. 3. Release your attachment to the outcome Now that you are really clear on what it is you want and why you want it, release your attachment to getting exactly what you want. It is not an easy task to set our intentions based on what we feel would bring us the most joy and fulfillment, but when you are unattached to the outcome, it allows you to live in flow. It’s not really the material object or condition that you need, it is the feeling that having that object or condition would bring you. That feeling might be delivered to you through an avenue you simply cannot perceive at this moment in time. 4. Live its reality What would your life look like if you already had the thing that you want? How would you spend your time? What kind of food would you eat? What type of people would you spend your time with? What clothes would you wear? Intentions are energy, and in this case, opposites do not attract. As in Ayurveda, like increases like. So, start living your life in a way that brings you into vibrational alignment with the energy of the very thing that you want. 5. Learn to love the obstacles As you set forth to manifest your intentions, you will more than likely be met with obstacles. Obstacles can signify one of two things: 1. The Universe is testing you to see just how sure you are about what you’ve set out to create or get. This is your opportunity to stand your ground and remind yourself of your why. Be grateful for this chance to remember your true motivation. 2. You may have thought you wanted your dream job to look a certain way, and this obstacle is now directing you towards something similar, yet potentially much greater. Choose to look beyond the obstacle to see what doors it may have opened for you that you may not have seen otherwise. 6. Feel what’s real Along your journey you will be faced with decisions that will ultimately create the energy with which you are trying to manifest your intention. Remember, like increases like. The good news is that your body is speaking to you, always. When faced with a decision, whether it’s a difficult decision or something more mundane like what you will eat for lunch or whether to attend the party you were invited to, all you have to do is tune in, ask your body a yes or no question, and feel the response. It’s likely you will feel the response in your gut or womb, your solar plexus, or your heart. If your body responds with an uncomfortable sensation, the answer is no. If your body responds with a feel-good sensation, then the answer is yes. Don’t use your head to feel the response, meaning don’t sit there and try to analyze or question it. Feel your body and your heart and go with the first thing that you feel. 7. Mind your language You are in constant communication with the universe through the language you use both in conversation with others and internally in your thoughts. Notice when you use phrases such as “I hope” or “I think I will” or “I’d really like to”. These phrases send a message to the universe that you are lacking what you want and part of you does not believe you can actually have it as yours. Thus, the universe will continue to deliver the lack. 8. Don’t force it Tension creates more tension. Ease creates more ease. Set your intention, and then keep your attention in the present moment. What can you do, right now, in this moment, to create more ease for you to attract what you want? Release your attachment to making it happen. All you need to do is be the container within which your intention can land. 9. Trust As in any relationship, the most important aspect in your relationship to the Universe, is trust. Trust that the Universe wants to give you what you desire. Trust that you are more than capable and worthy of receiving that which you desire. Trust that you are a creative Being with the power to transform your life. Trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be and trust that the entire process is divine in its very nature. 10. Celebrate And lastly, but certainly not least, celebrate yourself along the way. Celebrate when you put in the time, effort, and commitment whether it produces the result you had in mind or not. Celebrate even the smallest successes and celebrate even when you fail, acknowledging what you have learned and what you have gained from this lesson. Celebrate when you’ve had a great day and when you’ve had a really tough day, but you are still breathing and still standing. We live in a culture that puts so much value on self-improvement and not nearly enough value on self-acknowledgment. I promise you, when you learn to receive your own love and acknowledgment, you will not only attract more of what you want, but the people around you and the entire universe will suddenly give you more of the love and acknowledgment that we all need to succeed. Description of neurochemicals & their role in Flow
As we have learned, our brain and body release powerful performance enhancing neurotransmitters and hormones that act as paint for the canvas. Here is a more in-depth explanation of each of the neurochemicals involved in the flow state experience: 1. Norepinephrine speeds up heart rate, improves muscle tension, triggers the release of glucose and giving us more energy. Our neural efficiency is up. 2. Dopamine gives us the feeling of engagement in a task and rewards us for it. Dramatically increases our attention, improves pattern recognition & muscle control. 3. Endorphins … this pain reliever and “euphoric” neurotransmitters are pretty strong, to say the least. There are 20 different types of endorphins and are more powerful than medical morphine. 4. Anandamide … the word is taken from the sanskrit word ananda, which means “bliss, delight”. Anandamide was found to do a lot more than produce a state of heightened happiness. It’s synthesized in areas of the brain that are important in memory, motivation, higher thought processes, and movement control. It plays a role in pain, appetite, and fertility. It also helps put the brakes on cancer cell proliferation and exhibits both anti-anxiety and antidepressant properties. Anandamide, like all neurotransmitters, is fragile and breaks down quickly, which is why it cannot produce a perpetual state of bliss. 5. Oxytocin … the “love hormone” is associated solely with maternal behaviours and sex while recent findings point to a broader scope in human social bonding, trust and emotional behaviours. 6. Serotonin affects mood, social behaviour, appetite, digestion, sleep, memory and sexual desire. Studies have found that when serotonin has arrived, the state has already happened, so we can associate it more with the “afterglow effect”. The vast majority of the body’s serotonin is found in the gastrointestinal tract. The endocannabinoid system has been recently recognized as an important modulatory system in the function of the brain, endocrine, and immune tissues. It appears to play a very important regulatory role in the secretion of hormones related to reproductive functions and response to stress.
The ultimate goal of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) is homeostasis – the maintenance of a constant internal environment. Endocannabinoids are neurotransmitters, chemical messengers that send instructions to cells. Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body: in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. It is a system, with its complex actions in our immune system, nervous system, and all of the body’s organs, they are literally a bridge between the body and the mind. Furthermore, it is involved in neuromodulation and immunomodulation in the immune system, helps regulate the central control of energy balance, plays a key role in the maintenance of bone mass, regulates metabolic processes (including storage), promotes/regulates sleep, regulates pain signaling as more important tasks. Management of the flow wave in this way includes the endocannabinoid system as an integral part of the flow interventions. It helps us understand better the game the body & mind play and how everything in our body is connected. Breathing is the only bodily rhythm that we are able to consciously control and our most direct highway to flow. Conscious breathing is extensively used in flow interventions and different combined intervention sets.
Arguably the most important aspect of mental and physical health and well-being is the respiratory process. We know how to breathe. It is something that occurs to us automatically, spontaneously, naturally. We are breathing even when we are not aware of it. So it seems foolish to think that one can be told how to breathe. Yet, one’s breathing becomes modified and restricted in various ways, not just momentarily, but habitually. We develop unhealthy habits without being aware of it. We tend to assume slouched positions that diminish lung capacity and take shortened breaths. So why is breathing so important? It has been suggested that the average individual can survive: 40 days without food, 4 days without water and 4 minutes without oxygen! Medical science has revealed an alarming fact, 80 % of the population is breathing wrong - shallow & inefficient, chest only. Stress ... response creates a vicious cycle, which through time results in a stressful and shallow “default” breathing pattern, producing 12 - 18 breaths a minute - while science tells us we need only 6 proper deep breaths in a minute to supply our needs. All the extra activity involved in our short, shallow breathing habits is robbing us of precious energy, producing toxic waste products and promoting a wide range of pulmonary & other diseases in our bodies and depression for our mind, further contributing to an ever more widely present “burnout syndrome”. Only slower and deeper breathing properly oxygenates your body, gets rid of toxins and gives your body a chance to properly maintain all functions. Independent studies have clearly demonstrated, that by breathing properly, we can increase potential to live a longer and healthier life and avoid depression & disease. Nature has equipped us with a “fight of flight” emergency response for surviving against the enemy or danger. It has also provided us with a “calming” response, to restore peace and serenity, equally important for our survival. To enter the flow, we need to breathe correctly, moving toward a slower and deeper daily breathing pattern (diaphragmatic with prolonged exhalation) that replaces shallow “default” breathing. Progressively lowered breathing rhythm increasingly employs relax centres in our nervous system and efficiently slows down and calms all the body systems, creating potential to experience the flow state. Breathing rhythm and its relation to the flow Breathing in through the nose and exhaling either through the nose or mouth by properly using diaphragm is a well established consensus on what is a correct breathing technique. FlowCode includes effective techniques from different disciplines and formalizes them by their effect, while all of them follow the same basic logic. Breathing rhythm is extremely important since it is one of the few gateways into flow and one of its most potent active ingredients. Breathing rhythm is directly correlated to our nervous system, reflecting its every state. Therefore one of the most effective ways to boost the experience of flow is to use the ability to regulate breathing and manipulate it toward conscious, deep & slow diaphragmatic breathing pattern. As is evident from the chart, to experience a more powerful flow in everyday life, we must keep breathing pace within the right frequency. It is defined as any breathing frequency below 10 breaths per minute, which triggers a parasympathetic response, which in effect triggers flow. Normal daily life breathing frequencies above 10 breaths per minute increase sympathetic nervous system response, which leads to flight or fight state, stress, anxiety and depression. This concerns normal activities of everyday living, where we don’t have extra demands for oxygen. In this way we have a powerful tool at our disposal to hack the flow into higher gear. Breathing very slow or in case of a breath-hold, also results in carbon dioxide increase. Studies have unanimously confirmed that CO2 is a very potent flow state trigger, since it harmonizes brainwaves, creates immediate calming effect, enables powerful embodiment and directly contributes to the hypofunction of prefrontal cortex. |
